Port of San Diego Retirement Benefits

Full-time employees of the Unified Port District are eligible for membership and required to join the SDCERS defined benefit plan.
A defined benefit plan is a retirement plan in which you make contributions throughout your career, and which guarantees you a benefit from the time you retire until your death. Your benefit is based on a formula that calculates your years of service credit, age at retirement and your final compensation (highest three-year or one-year salary). For General Members hired on or after October 1, 2006, final compensation is based on the member's high three-year salary; for all Safety members, and General members hired before October 1, 2006, final compensation is based on the member's high one-year salary.

Depending on your classification with the Port, you will participate in one of two membership groups:

General Members:
General Member plan

Safety Members (Harbor Police):
Safety Member plan

Click your membership group at left for more details on your specific retirement plan.
