Kitrosser Unanimously Elected SDCERS Board President

Date: Aug 20, 2013

The San Diego City Employees’ Retirement System (SDCERS) Board of Administration has unanimously elected Edward Kitrosser to serve as Board president. Kitrosser was appointed to the Board of Administration in April 2009 by Mayor Jerry Sanders and was reappointed by Mayor Bob Filner to serve a second four-year term in July 2013.

“It’s been a pleasure to serve on the Board alongside my fellow trustees. SDCERS has made innumerable improvements in its governance over the last four years and I look forward to continuing that focus,” stated Kitrosser.

Kitrosser is a retired CPA with more than 40 years of experience in accounting, auditing, tax and consulting services. He was an audit partner and a managing partner for Moss Adams, LLP, an accounting and consulting firm specializing in accounting and tax services for public, private and non-profit enterprises until he retired in December 2009. Kitrosser received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in Accounting from the Bernard M. Baruch School of Business and Public Administration in New York.

Kitrosser is an unpaid, citizen volunteer and serves as a member of the Board’s Disability, Business and Governance, Investment and Audit committees. He succeeds Herb Morgan who held the position of president from December 2011 to June 2013.

“Ed’s an outstanding leader and has been an invaluable addition to our Board these past four years,” stated system CEO Mark Hovey. “I’m excited that he’s agreed to serve another term and to serve as Board President.”

SDCERS administers defined benefit plans for the City of San Diego, the San Diego Unified Port District, and the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority and provides service retirement, disability retirement, death and survivor benefits to more than 20,450 members. As of June 30, 2013, SDCERS had $5.8 billion in net investments.
