SDCERS Receives Award for Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting

Date: Aug 05, 2014

The San Diego City Employees' Retirement System (SDCERS) has been given the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Financial Reporting by the Government Financial Officers Association (GFOA) for its FY 2013 Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR).

A PAFR is a condensed, user-friendly guide to SDCERS’ annual comprehensive financial statements made available each year in the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and represents a significant accomplishment by a governmental agency and its management.

The SDCERS PAFR was judged by an impartial panel of GFOA to have met the high standards of the program, which includes demonstrating an effective means to disclose and clearly communicate SDCERS’ financial story. The award recognizes that the PAFR‘s approachable content will motivate members and the public to read the PAFR. SDCERS’ award-winning PAFR, mailed to all members in January each year, is available online here.

The Government Financial Officers Association (GFOA) has also awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to SDCERS for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the past six years. To see SDCERS’ award-winning CAFR, click here.

The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 15,000 government finance professionals.
