Roberta Spoon and George Kenney have been designated by Mayor Kevin Faulconer to serve as mayoral appointees on the San Diego City Employees’ Retirement System (SDCERS) Board of Administration. Spoon and Kenney’s appointments were confirmed by the San Diego City Council on April 25, 2017.
Spoon is a licensed CPA and a founding partner at the forensic accounting firm of Brodshatzer, Wallace, Spoon & Yip, CPAs from 1988, retiring in 2016. She recently completed two terms as Board Vice Chair for the San Diego Housing Commission.
Kenney is founder and Managing Director of Shepherd Ventures, a technology, software, and life sciences fund. He has extensive experience in money management and investment risk management.
Mayor Faulconer also reappointed Carol Broad and Thanasi Preovolos for another term.
Appointed Board members serve four-year terms with a two-term (eight year) limit. Elected members serve four-year terms. The City management member serves for the period of employment in their position with the City of San Diego. The SDCERS Board meets six times a year, approximately every eight weeks.
