The San Diego City Employees’ Retirement System (SDCERS) Board of Administration has elected Alan Arrollado to serve as Board President, effective July 10, 2015. Arrollado was elected to the Board of Administration in 2009 and re-elected for another four-year term in 2013.
“I am grateful that my fellow Board Members have chosen me to preside over the meetings,” stated Arrollado. “The past six years serving on the SDCERS Board have been both extraordinary and rewarding beyond my expectations.”
Elected to the Board of Administration by the Fire Safety members, Arrollado has been with the City's Fire Department for 27 years and currently holds the rank of captain. A San Diego native, Arrollado has been a member of the Urban Search and Rescue Task Force since 1993, and deployed to assist in major disasters across the country, including Hurricane Katrina.
Arrollado served as Chair of the Board’s Disability Committee for the past four years, and also served as a member of the Board’s Business and Governance Committee for the past two years. He succeeds Edward Kitrosser, who held the position of Board President for the past two years.
“Ed has been a terrific Board President, and I’m excited about working with Alan in his new role,” stated system CEO Mark Hovey. “Alan has been an outstanding Board Member and fiduciary for our system’s 20,000 members the past six years.”
SDCERS administers defined benefit plans for the City of San Diego, the San Diego Unified Port District, and the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority and provides service retirement, disability retirement, death and survivor benefits to more than 20,800 members. As of June 30, 2015, SDCERS had $6.8 billion in net investments.
